Let's Talk Tallow :
What is Beef Tallow?
Beef tallow is suet, the hard crumbly fat surrounding a cows kidneys, rendered down several times to remove all impurities.
How can Beef Fat be good for my skin?
Even though it sounds odd to say you use beef fat on your skin, tallow is a powerhouse of vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. Containing vitamins A, D, E, K, and B12. Fats are essential in the protective layer of our skin thus contributing to a strong lipid barrier. This lipid barrier traps in moisture and keeps out irritants, bacteria, etc. These benefits are hard to mimic with chemical based products.
Does it smell like Beef?
Once rendered pure, there is very little to no beef smell. However, this can vary person to person. If you are sensitive to smells, opt for an infused tallow. These smell strongly of their infusions.
Will it clog my pores?
Beef tallow is almost bioidentical to our skin. It creates a semipermeable barrier without clogging pores. If your skin is more sensitive, it is best to start with a small amount in an inconspicuous area.
Why choose Tallow?
Beef tallow is minimally processed, only adding salt and water (which do not remain in the tallow). No harsh chemicals or preservatives, just all natural, locally sourced ingredients. It is shelf stable for up to a year once all water is rendered out. Who doesn't want to minimize the ingredients in their skincare products?
